Fishery production would have closed 2020 with an annual drop of 11.39%, according to preliminary figures from the National Aquaculture and Fisheries Commission (Conapesca).

Last year it would have reached a production of 1 million 534.181 tons landed; falling below the 1 million 731,441 registered in 2019, according to information provided through transparency by the General Directorate of Planning, Programming and Evaluation of Conapesca, which includes arrival notices for smaller, larger and harvest vessels.

The primary sector was among the most resilient in the face of the economic crisis caused by the coronavirus, thanks to the fact that it includes activities that were considered essential during the pandemic.
