Do you remember what you were doing four years ago? In 2018, Oceana opened its doors in Mexico with the objective of protecting our country's oceans, threatened by pollution, illegal fishing and overfishing. A lot has happened in these four years. The pandemic that stopped the world and made it more clear than ever that if we want to continue with our lives, we must protect our planet.

Like everyone else, the pandemic hit us, but it didn't stop us. These four years we have been working not only for our oceans. We are also working for you, for your family, for your friends and loved ones, because the oceans belong to all of us, and their well-being is also your well-being. Their future is also our future.

Regulating fishing doesn't just benefit anglers, it benefits you, your family and your wallet. Did you know that one out of every three times you buy fish they give you one species for another? One of the initiatives we are fighting for is the creation of a traceability standard, to generate more sustainable markets so that you know where the fish you eat comes from. This rule is to take care of what you buy and eat.

It is possible to recover balance and abundance in Mexican seas and to achieve this we need a reform to the General Fisheries Law, which obliges the Mexican State to restore overexploited species, so that artisanal fishermen have better opportunities.

In these four years we have worked and fought, and this last year has been no exception. We need your help, your participation and your action to have clean and protected oceans, so that our seas are home to many species, and that none are in danger of extinction; so that our oceans are a safe source of food and recreation.

Join the movement to protect our seas, and together, let's be a tide.

Oceana, protecting the oceans to feed the world.
