In the 2019 Federation Expenditure Budget, recently approved by the Chamber of Deputies of the Congress of the Union, Conapesca and Inapesca reduced their budget for administrative expenses by 11% and the Education and Research Program by 0.3% respectively compared to what was allocated the previous year.

All the Concurrent Special Programs of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (SADER) that provide support and subsidies managed directly by Conapesca, and which are aimed at promoting and developing the fishing and aquaculture sector, experienced cuts, with the exception of the Program of Competition with the Federal Entities (which maintains two billion pesos in the budget).

The Capitalization Boost component, which encompasses the subcomponents that take the highest percentage of the budget item (modernization of larger and smaller vessels, marine diesel, coastal gasoline, works and studies, ProPesca, capacity building), will receive about 47% less resources for fiscal year 2019.

The Aquaculture Development and Fisheries and Aquaculture Management and Surveillance components will receive almost 40% less resources for this fiscal year.
