On January 17, Causa Natura Media presented one of our most important projects: the designation and the editorial exhibition of the 25 outstanding people in the “impact, influence and sustainability” in the Mexican oceans in 2022.
A celebration that we enjoy far away from the sea but close to those who know it very well, we met at a cocktail event in Mexico City to commemorate the story of 25 people who, from the economic, environmental, social, political or cultural spheres, stood out for their great work in safeguarding the biodiversity of our oceans and promoting their sustainable use.

An inclusive and diverse list of men, women, youth, fishermen, businessmen, chefs, artists, academics, communicators, officials and politicians, artists, community and indigenous leaders. And just a small sample of the strength of individual and collective work in defense of the future of the Mexican seas.
An event that was made possible by those who participated in the selection process through the application committees, with the collaboration of Collective Impact for Mexican Fisheries and Aquaculture (ICPMX), Community and Biodiversity A.C. (COBI), Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), Oceana Mexico, and the Initiative for the Seas and the Coasts of Mexico.
In addition, these lines serve to thank the work of our editorial committee, made up of the board and the communication and journalism areas of Causa Natura, as well as representatives of the Journalism of the Sea Network (REPEMAR).
The editorial committee had to work hard to make a final selection of 25 names out of more than 100 submissions from committees and citizen forms. This initiative recognized the work and trajectory of people who work for the seas and coasts of Mexico since: 1.- Politics, Art and Culture; 2.- Fishing; 3.- Academia, Research and Civil Society; 4.- Community and Research and 5.- outstanding stories of whom the Causa Natura journalism team recounted their work in more detail.
14 of the 25 recognized people attended and shared some reflections with the audience, representatives of different organizations, journalists and people close to Causa Natura. This event, as well as the 25 portraits and stories, are now available to all interested people through our platform. We invite them to read and follow their work and trajectory because they represent lessons and motivation to achieve a more inclusive world, of people and the environment.
