For the fishing sector, the priority and emblematic program of the present administration is Bienesca. As established by BienPesca's own objective, fishing subsidies are now to promote not only the sector's production, but also welfare conditions and food self-sufficiency1. However, more than a year after this change, it is not clear how it is operating and to what extent it pays for that objective.
